A little about me

Hi I'm Rev Jean. I'm a wife, mother, grandmother great grandmother and a Community Minister  with the Open Sanctuary.  My aim is to create personal, meaningful, memorable ceremonies filled with love. It is a privilege to get to know families and get to help them at both the saddest and happiest moments in their lives.

Ceremonies that I offer at spiritinthedkyceremonies include Funerals, memorials, scattering of Ashes, and Interments.

I also offer wedding celebrations and Legal weddings, Civil partnerships, vow renewals and baby naming ceremonies under makeavow.info

I feel privileged to be able to be part of end of life Rites of Passages. Being part of a funeral service  allows me to help those at a time when the love for a lost one is causing so much pain.

It truly is a honour to support a bereaved family and help create and conduct a funeral service to reflect the wishes of the family and the life of their loved one. When the families come back to me and tell me the service was comforting and just what their loved one would have wanted, a great send off, words cannot express how it makes me feel. It is overwhelming.

' My aim is that the funeral service should bring the

family and friends comfort on the day and also in the years ahead '

Funeral Services

I offer a bespoke service offering guidance and advice to create the perfect funeral ceremony.

Every life is unique therefore so is every death. I am able to offer ceremonies to reflect the wishes and beliefs of the family be it  Non religious, spiritual or religious. Where your loved one did not have a strong religious belief, you may wish to include some spiritual elements to be woven into the ceremony.

Amidst the grief it is often hard to know what you or your loved one wants for the funeral service. I will take the time to sit down with you and help guide you through making some of those difficult decisions.

I am committed to helping you make informed and sensitive choices at every step, ensuring every element of the ceremony is agreed and approved by you. Together we will create a respectful and meaningful ceremony that not only says goodbye how you want but with celebration for the life of your loved one.

I will look forward to hearing your stories of your loved one and working together to give him or her the send off he or she would have wanted.

Following the service I will present you with a bound copy of the script in a ceremony folder with forget me not seeds inside and offer to provide (at no extra charge), scrolls for those in attendance at the service.

Types of Funeral services
Non religious

This type of service is without mention of reference to any form or religion or afterlife. it is important to remember that even if the person who died had no religious beliefs that people attending the funeral may have faith and it is therefore considerate to honour both sides. If you feel it appropriate then a short period of reflection can be included within the service to allow those who have religious beliefs to say a silent prayer

' To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die' - Thomas Campbell

religious/ Spiritual

Increasingly more people are finding themselves not linked to any 'church' but are still deeply spiritual people. Others are simply unsure as to if or what they believe but still don't want to deny the possibility of life after death or some form of spiritual life. You may wish to include hymns, prayers, readings or poetry or music which will make the ceremony personal and moving and which will provide comfort to all those present
